Notice of renewal of leases for all council rented properties
Notice is hereby given to all Council tenants renting Council properties including but not limited to, houses, offices, shops, beerhalls, creches, market stalls, and open spaces, that, your yearly leases expired on the 31st of December 2023. Renewal period has lapsed and those without valid leases are being given a moratorium until 30 May 2024, to regularize their occupation and those in arrears to make necessary payments or make arrangements to defray their errears,failure which Council will proceed to evict them without further notice.
Please be reminded that, sub-letting of Council property is a serious breach of lease terms and conditions, and will lead to termination of the lease without notice. Those being sub-let are encouraged to visit Council with evidence to the effect that, they were being sublet and will stand a good chance to regularize their occupation and those sub-letting face the risk of eviction at the expiry of this lease renewal and regularization period expiring on the 30th of May 2024.
