Rusape Town Council has noted with concern reported cases of cholera in our neighbouring districts, in particular Nyanga District. Due to our proximity to Nyanga District probability is very high that it may spread to Makoni District, especially Rusape Town as the hub of all economic activities. All residents are being encouraged to be on high alert and exercise hygiene. Residents are being encouraged to avoid hand shaking as it spreads cholera. Funerals and other mass gatherings should be manned by health care professionals. Washing of hands with water and detergents after using the toilet and before eating helps curb the spread of cholera. Any person with symptoms of diarrhoea is being advised to take salt and sugar solution, whilst seeking assistance at the nearest medical facility. Residents are being encouraged to report sewer outbursts timeously as part of the measures to control the pandemic.
